This is what was missing from the Avengers movie. caseyroonan: “Identity Crisis,” digital (ink on bristol), 17” x 11”, 2012. To prove that I can, in fact, do superhero comics… Kind of. Maybe it’s too soon in my “career” to be doing self-parody? I worked on a title card that read “The Transparent Stand-In” for this, as well - in the vein of the old “Amazing Spider-Man” newspaper strips - but decided it was a bit much. I spent a good couple weeks pouring over John Romita Sr. and Jack Kirby Marvel comics to draw this, and had a lot of fun in the process. Although maintaining this look left me completely drained, in the end. I’d like to think of it as a “master copy.” -CR
